What to Expect
Adopting the MyoPro® 2X into your daily routine is a gradual process focused on comfort, familiarity, and consistent use.
Your orthotist adjusts the carbon fiber frame and padding to match your unique arm anatomy and optimize fit.
You’ll start with short wear sessions (approx. 30-45 minutes) to allow your skin and muscles to acclimate to the MyoPro’s support.
As you become familiar with the MyoPro, you’ll practice “Reach-to-Grasp” maneuvers, utilizing the MyoPro’s motorized assistance to extend your arm further and hold objects longer without fatigue.
The goal is to gradually increase wear time and incorporate the MyoPro® into daily routines and activities.
Who It Is For
FAQ
The device typically weighs between 3 and 4 pounds, depending on the custom components.
Because the weight is distributed across the arm and may be supported by a shoulder harness, many users find it comfortable to wear during daily activities.
The MyoPro 2X uses medical-grade, breathable liners. We teach users and caregivers to perform regular skin checks, and liners can be easily cleaned or replaced to maintain hygiene.
The MyoPro is not typically worn under clothing. Some users wear loose-fitting or over-sized button-down shirts or jackets over the device.
The MyoPro 2X sensors detect your intent to reach. The motors then assist in extending the elbow and opening/closing the hand, allowing you to pick up items like a water bottle or a phone from a table. * Note: the MyoPro does not help at the shoulder.
Many users learn one-handed donning techniques over time and may be able to put on the device independently after training. Early on, having a caregiver assist with donning and sensor placement can be helpful.
The battery is designed to last a full day of typical functional use. We recommend charging it overnight, similar to a smartphone.
No, it is not recommended for driving due to safety concerns.
The motors produce a faint, low-decibel hum when active. Most users find that it quickly blends into the background noise of a typical home or office environment.
