Senior Systems Engineer

In a Senior Systems Engineer, Myomo seeks a key player in implementing the latest technologies and industry best practices in our robotic orthosis product line. The right candidate will translate stakeholder needs, risks, and human factors inputs into testable requirements and architectural designs.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with a passion for electromechanical systems design and control implementation. He/she should have a good fundamental understanding of mechatronics and have experience bringing products from early concept development through to commercialization. Experience with test method development and validation is strongly preferred.

The Senior Systems Engineer is expected to be a key interface within cross-functional groups and ensure that stakeholder needs are effectively addressed by engineering designs.

Responsibilities

Drive continuous Product Improvement

  • Design medical devices and mechatronic subsystems to meet the needs of our customers.
  • Identify and implement strategic architectural and design changes to improve patient satisfaction, manufacturing yield, quality, and cost.
  • Actively seek out recent technological advancements that can add value for our patients.
  • Create and evaluate prototypes, generate concepts, and document investigations.

Product Requirements and Managing System Architecture

  • Develop/maintain system architecture for products, based on technology and platform strategies.
  • Develop/maintain system-level requirements in alignment with patient needs as well as other stakeholders such as the Clinical, Manufacturing, and Quality teams.
  • Apply requirements-driven design through systems engineering principles, with good communication and leadership skills.
  • Provide technical input to the design team in a manner demonstrating an understanding of the product, project, customer, and business impact.
  • Understand and follow Quality and Product Development processes.
  • Identify and communicate potential risks with appropriate mitigations.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Biomedical, Electrical, Software Engineering or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in product development in a regulated industry. (Medical, Automotive, Aerospace.)
  • Strong background in technology and prototype development.
  • Ability to use scripting languages such as MATLAB or Python.
  • Knowledge of rapid-prototyping and manufacturing processes including 3D printing, quick-turn PCBs and harness production.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Effectively communicate and work cooperatively with others as part of a team.
