"Before my stroke, I used to play basketball with my daughter in our yard. What is funny is that I have been dying to bounce a ball. I mean really bounce a ball! And, I did that with one of the therapists. I was like, ‘Wow! I really did it!’ It was difficult and hard to control, but I did it myself."

myomo for Patients & Caregivers -- Is It Right For Me

Men and women of all ages are restoring movement to their arms with the Myomo® mPower 1000.

If you are experiencing limited mobility or muscle weakness in the arm due to a neurological disorder, you may be a candidate for the Myomo Mobility System.

Myomo is applicable to a broad range of individuals with muscle weakness and neuro-muscular damage from conditions ranging from stroke, Traumatic Brain Injury and Cerebral Palsey to Spinal Cord Injury, ALS and MS. Since there is no electrical stimulation used by the mPower 1000, patients with pacemakers can use the product as well.

Patients who are not a candidate for Myomo include those with shoulder dislocation (subluxation is not a contra-indication), severe pain or abrasions, spasticity that prevents manual ranging of the arm into extension, inability to support a one pound weight and those who cannot follow three step directions.

"For 20 years, I’ve thought about picking up my arm and moving it, and all of the sudden, I am moving it now like I used to. My arm has woken up. I am more aware of it, and find I use it unconsciously."

""I can feel my arm more, and can move it further and faster. I am now able to do things that I could not before like pouring my own creamer into my coffee cup, and removing mail from an envelope with a letter opener."

"I believe that Myomo will change the future of stroke rehabilitation. It has the potential to give my child back the use of his right arm. When Myomo becomes available for home use, we will be the first to purchase one. That's how strongly I believe in Myomo and the wonderful people behind it."
