In Peter Levine’s book Stronger After Stroke, stroke survivors and caregivers receive a great amount of knowledge on current trends in stroke recovery that are not usually learned when they are patients at the hospital. Mr Levine, a once rock n roll star, turned Physical Therapy Assistant and researcher does a wonderful job taking the complex concepts of neuro-recovery and turning them into easily understandable chapters on different key topics.
The book starts by reviewing the basic concepts of stroke recovery. It gives the reader an overview of neuroplasticity and who is who from a care provider side in the stroke recovery world. The book then takes the reader on a journey of current research concepts that work and how to easily implement them into recovery. Next, it talks about prevention of future strokes and other complications that can arise if a stroke survivor does not take good care of himself. The rest of the book is focused on oodles of cool treatment options and gadgets!
In summary, this is a great easy read for anyone who has had a stroke or is just interested in the topic and recovery in general.
